With so many options, how does one choose the right formulation? For starters, there’s antiperspirant versus deodorant — the first prevents sweating and wetness, while the latter tackles the stinky bacteria that comes about via sweat. A simple deodorant works well for those who don’t sweat a lot, but if wetness tends to take over your underarm area, then an antiperspirant is the way to go in order to stay dry. Antiperspirants work by temporarily plugging sweat glands with ingredients from aluminum salts and a good rule of thumb is to choose a formulation with at least 10 percent aluminum chloride for optimal efficacy.
