Here’s What Gisele Bündchen’s Wedding Dress Looked Like

Gisele Bündchen lives a charmed life. She’s the world’s highest-paid supermodel, her career is stronger than ever, and she’s got a beautiful family with her studly pro-football-playing husband Tom Brady. There is probably never a day when it’s bad to be Gisele.

In case you needed to be reminded, just peep the model’s #TBT picture posted to her Instagram yesterday. Six years after her wedding, we’re treated to a sweet moment and a look at her gorgeous dress (finally!). The ivory spaghetti-strap gown appears to be covered in glittering sequins. We’re looking at the dress, but the couple only has eyes for each other.

Must be nice.

Kristen Stewart Lands Yet Another Chanel Campaign (Forum Buzz)

After landing the campaign for Chanel’s Paris-Dallas collection, sitting front row at the label’s shows and appearing as the new face of its latest handbag campaign, it’s clear that Kristen Stewart is one of Karl Lagerfeld’s favorites. Shot by the designer in his Paris-based studio against his signature dark gray backdrop, Kristen sports a timeless Chanel jacket with matching pants teamed with a white tee. But the focal point of the campaign is the iconic French fashion house’s latest coveted accessory — the 11.12 handbag, pictured here in black lambskin leather.

Ad Campaign Chanel Handbags 11.15 Kristen Stewart Karl Lagerfeld

IMAGE: KSTEWARTFANS.LIVEJOURNAL.COM

At first, our forums were treated to an exclusive preview of the ads. Forum member Slater didn’t get us off on a positive note: “Can Karl stop already… Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel must be fuming from her grave.” Is the shot of Kristen really that bad?

Melancholybaby soon fired back: “She was a terrible human being so who cares what she’s doing in her grave about a talentless actress fronting a campaign for her house?” Ouch!

“Haha, that’s exactly what I was thinking…” added la veronika in agreement.

“Really? Can she sell anything?” asked narcyza, questioning if the actress will even shift merchandise.

The rest were left unsure. “Kristen isn’t the best, but surely she’s better than the Charlotte Frees and Alice Dellals of this world. This image looks good, but her hair is a mess as usual,” exclaimed Benn98.

Steddycam91 was uncertain, too: “I’m on the fence about this. On the one hand, Kristen looks pretty, relaxed and chic. But it’s also quite… generic? She’s just been made to look like a mini-Carine with her artfully disheveled hair and slight pout and classic jacket. She just kind of blends in. Nice but forgettable. However, I’ll happily take that over the Karl photographic monstrosities we’ve seen of late.”

Margot Robbie Wore Every Designer Under the Sun for “Focus”

Margot Robbie

Photo: YouTube

Margot Robbie’s makeout sesh with Will Smith wasn’t her only beneficiary while filming Focus. The Australian actress got to wear a mix of high-end designers on-set, and loved every minute of dabbling in pieces from Gucci to Givenchy.

By now you might’ve seen the trailer, or the film if you’re in a country where it’s been released already, and probably spent the entire duration drooling over Margot’s, or rather her character Jess’, chic, expensive wardrobe.

Margot Robbie

Photo: YouTube

The sexy cut-out poolside ensemble for the ultimate “can you trust her?” scene? Oh, just Herve Leger and Prada platforms. The red one-shouldered dress as she comes down the winding staircase? That would be Roland Mouret.

But that doesn’t even begin to cut it. The 24-year-old also got to wear a Trina Turk floral-print number, Gucci shades, Alexander Wang pumps and a good dose of Dolce & Gabbana too.

Margot Robbie

Photo: YouTube

Daily Mail Australia reports that Margot thought of the film as “like playing dress up”, otherwise known as every girl’s dream. “The costume fittings for this were really fun because I got to wear cool clothes,” she said. Cool? Bless.

She also got to put her two cents in with the wardrobe team, including costume designer Dayna Pink, to make sure that she was the sexiest pickpocket there ever was. We don’t think she has much competition.

“The costume choices are always pretty instrumental in creating your character so I was lucky that they were very open to any suggestions,” she explained. While she admits that most of the time she tries to “stay out of it”, it was important to Margot that the wardrobe reflected the way her character’s lifestyle changed through the film.

“The only input I had to my costuming was that I wanted there to be a difference between the first half and the second half of the movie looks for Jess,” she explained. In the early stages of the film Margot describes her character as having a style which is “street, a little more edgy” in a leather jacket, chipped nail polish and problem regrowth.

“In the second half, she’s acquired more funds and wearing designer clothes,” Margot explained. “A little more form-fitted, geometric, sort of architecturally cool stylised looks.”

That being said, she got to wear a Helmut Lang white goat-fur coat, Jimmy Choo ankle booties and a Givenchy skirt during her time as a crappy ol’ thief. NBD.

Andreja Pejic Makes Runway Debut at London Fashion Week

Andreja Pejic

Photo: WENN

Andreja Pejic has made her first runway appearance since undergoing gender-transition surgery last year, walking for Giles Deacon’s Fall 2015 show at London Fashion Week. No words can express our excitement!

“It feels amazing to be making my runway debut for one of my favorite British designers #Giles Thank you to @kegrand and @guineapiggiles #thereturn #LFW,” Andreja wrote to Instagram. The Bosnian-born Australian model walked alongside the likes of Kendall Jenner, Jessica Stam and Lily Donaldson as part of her major comeback.

The 23-year-old made her public debut as a woman at Jean Paul Gaultier’s Melbourne exhibition in October last year, after taking a few months away from the modelling industry. At the time she told news.com.au that she was looking forward to getting back to business, this time as a woman.

“It’s time for me to be more chic and classic, to work as a woman and to prove my capabilities to do what the other big girls do,” she said. We never needed any proof that she would rise to modelling stardom as a woman, but, if anyone did, the proof is in Giles Deacon’s delicious runway pudding.

The Best Festival Style from Mountain Sounds 2015

Mountain Sounds

Photos: Jack Cowling for theFashionSpot

Boutique music festival Mountain Sounds hit NSW’s Central Coast over the weekend, and a bunch of stylish festival-goers flocked into Mt Penang Parklands for the beats of Tkay Maidza, Kite String Tangle, Alison Wonderland, DZ Deathrays and a mix of local up-and-comers.

Fancy dress was the optional theming of the event, but most attendees looked to gypsy-esque flowing capes and kimonos, 90s-throwback grunge boots, vintage-inspired lace and tasselling, floppy hats, and, thankfully, flower crowns were kept to a minimum. Hallelujah, these Central Coast kids know what, and what not, to wear.

Naomi Watts Gives Elegance an Unexpected Twist for the 2015 Oscars

Naomi Watts

Photo: Getty

She went bright for the Golden Globes, and now Naomi Watts has gone all shiny on us. The Australian actress has turned to a metallic figure-hugging dress by Armani for the 87th Annual Academy Awards at the Hollywood & Highland Center tonight (ET), and we think she looks sublime.

She risked her usual elegance with sexy side cut-out detailing to show off a bit of skin and a youthful spaghetti-strap halter neckline. Her messy waves and dark hues, like a black hard-case clutch, navy-blue drop earrings and a rich-berry lip, really made the look and balanced out her feminine grace with a good dose of moody edge.

We think Naomi nailed it by delivering the unexpected. Oh, and that shimmering rectangle pattern makes us want to follow the silver brick road all the way to the Oscars and see her magnificence in the flesh.

Margot Robbie Gets Dark in Saint Laurent for the 2015 Oscars

Margot Robbie

Photo: Getty

Australian actress Margot Robbie has taken a dark and moody approach to the 87th Annual Academy Awards at the Hollywood & Highland Center tonight (ET) in a black bewitching frock by Saint Laurent.

We always feel a bit disappointed when she doesn’t opt for an Aussie designer on the international stage, but, because she looks so damn hot, we’ll let it slide this time. The sheer-black sleeves and draped neckline oozed a mature sex appeal beyond her years, and the red lip really topped off the smouldering look.

Always one to surprise with a hairdo, the 24-year-old showed off a sharp side-parted lob which worked surprisingly well with the get-up. To keep the moodiness at bay, Margot rounded off the look with an opulent Van Cleef & Arpels blue-tasselled gold necklace.

We’re not used to seeing Margot in such a grown-up look, but we’re definitely fans! Homegirl looks fierce.

If watching the show online or on the big screen at the London flagship still just doesn’t do it for you, then tweet @Topshop with a review of the show for the chance to win a ticket to the Spring 2016 show. Maybe there’ll be a front row seat with your name on it next season.

Karlie Kloss on Her Longevity as a Model

Image: WENN

Image: WENN

For someone who was only 15 years old when she made her catwalk debut, it is truly amazing that Karlie Kloss has managed to stick around and build her influence in an industry that is so fickle. Karlie sat down for a profile with CBS News and talked about the industry that will love an It girl for one season, and then fail to cast her the next. “It’s kind of shocking how much turnover there is in my industry,” she said. “But the reason why I haven’t burnt out is because I keep myself — I feed myself with so many other things.”

Karlie’s Warby Parker range, Momofuku cookie line and Frame Denim jeans line are definitely keeping her busy. But the 22-year-old model isn’t stopping there. She plans to enroll as a full-time student at NYU this fall.

Karlie says she’ll still be working through her time in school, studying on set and while she travels. It’s a lot of work, but a good education when you’re already a successful model is only an advantage. Just ask Tyra Banks.

But in all this, one crucial question remains: Will BFF Taylor Swift help Karlie with her studies?

Expert Tips on How to Avoid Mascara Mishaps

image: Imaxtree

image: Imaxtree

No need to let a little runny eye makeup ruin your day! Whether you’re struggling with smudging or combating a case of spider lashes, there is a solution in sight. We turned to two seasoned makeup artists to get the dirt on how to deal with common mascara mishaps, so your peepers can be picture perfect.

Smudged Mascara

The bad news first: If you have long, luscious lashes (a great problem to have, BTW!), there’s no real way to avoid smudging. You can remove those pesky black blotches from your eyelids and beneath the eyes pretty easily, though. Celebrity makeup artist Marina Gravini recommends waiting for the smudges to dry completely. “Then take a dry mascara wand and brush it lightly and it won’t ruin your shadow,” she says. As for those bottom smudges, Gravini advises doing your eyes first, so any mishaps can quickly be cleaned up with a cotton swab. “Once your makeup is on, make sure to powder adequately underneath the eyes or use a waterproof under eye concealer to prevent smudging.”

Mascara Clumps

We all get mascara clumps from time to time, but turns out, there’s a much better way to handle the situation than using your fingers to literally pluck them out (guilty as charged!). Instead, if your lashes start to get clumpy, makeup artist Jonny Polizzi suggests wiping your mascara wand off with a paper towel and combing out any unwanted goop with your newly clean wand. Remember to get rid of any excess mascara on the wand prior to applying and to apply your mascara properly (use only two coats and start at the base of your lashes and wiggle upward) to avoid the problem in the first place.

Spidery Eyelashes

Can’t remember the last time you purchased a brand new tube of mascara? Well, that could be the culprit right there. “Usually, when you get spidery eyelashes, it’s because you have an old mascara or you’re putting on too many coats,” points out Gravini. Two coats is her max. For fuller lashes, you’ll definitely want to try a different formula. “If you’ve already attained the dreaded spider lash, put a drop of water on your mascara wand and put it back into your mascara,” she instructs. “The formula should now be thin enough for you to pick through your lashes and fix it.”

Mascara Dots

Steer clear of irritating mascara marks and dots above and below your eyes by using a lash guard. “It’s a small piece of plastic that forms to almost every eye shape, creating a barrier between the product and the skin,” describes Polizzi. Another tried-and-true method he swears by is taking a blending eyeshadow brush and dusting a little black eyeshadow on your lashes right after you put on your mascara. “This helps to absorb some of the moisture from the fresh coat of mascara,” he explains.

Backstage Beauty: Rachel Antonoff’s Grown Up School Girls

rachel-antonoff

“The whole premise of the show is that we’re at a science fair,” explains Linh Nguyen, lead stylist for Redken/Cutler backstage at Rachel Antonoff. “Rachel was inspired by a girl who fell in love with her teacher, but her teacher is in love with another teacher.” This naturally translated into a youthful look. “We were going for something cute, so we wanted a middle part. You know how when you’re going through puberty your hair has all kinds of different textures? We also wanted to incorporate that,” notes Nguyen.

The inspiration meant that models’ hair had more than one texture for a look that mixed lightly brushed out curls, waves and straight hair. Key products were Redken’s Pillow Proof to achieve the texture and Fashion Work 12 to set the overall look.

Contrary to what you may think, makeup was not similarly understated. “I’ve worked with Rachel for many years. She always comes up with an amazing story and is very involved. The whole process is very grassroots,” explains MAC lead makeup artist Keri Blair. “Because the collection was inspired by a love triangle in a boarding school and it takes place at a science fair, the colors of phosphors were what inspired us.” This meant lots of red, burgundy and orange variations.

When asked why she opted for such a strong look when the inspiration was a high school student, Blair explains, “This season is actually very grown up. This is a girl who can’t wait to go to college and go out with older boys. She’s well-traveled and clever, which is why we went with the phosphorous idea.”

Among the key products, according to Blair, were MAC’s Coffee Eye Pencil, which was used inside the water line, Sincere Powder Blush (it was used on cheeks and blended out from the eye to the brow bone), a mix of Oh Lady and Liquid Drama on lips, Everyone’s Darling Eyeshadow for the burned eye color (new shade) and lots of mascara because “this is a girl that is savvy and sexy.”

Caroline Trentini’s Vogue Ukraine Cover Gets Mixed Reviews (Forum Buzz)

Vogue Ukraine managed to impress us last month, but can the publication do it again? For its big March 2015 issue, the magazine tapped Caroline Trentini and enlisted Tom Munro to capture both the cover image and accompanying story. The U.S. Vogue favorite stands before a studio backdrop wearing a piece from Louis Vuitton with her hair pulled back, putting the focus on the (questionable) eye makeup.

“I’d expect something a little more dark and sexy from Tom Munro. This cover isn’t working for me because I don’t like the makeup and Caroline is overly Photoshopped but I do like the colors,” noted KateTheGreatest.

Oxymore shared the same sentiments: “I don’t like it at all. I think the makeup doesn’t suit her too. I’ve never been a Caroline fan and I don’t understand the hype around her.”

Not everyone disliked the cover, though. “I like it a lot, I think Caroline looks great and I love the color scheme,” said marsnoop2.

“Sorry, but I really do not understand how is it possible that this magazine still exists… but this cover is pretty good, I like the colors,” GlamorousBoy shared.

Breathless simply declared, “I don’t hate it.”

Forum member ellastica was also on board and admired, “They did at least try to do something different with the cover.. love her freckles. Caroline looks so grown up here!”

Why is Mamamia’s Rosie Waterland Comparing Herself to Sydney Fashion Blogger?

You might know Sydney Fashion Blogger, otherwise know as Antoinette Marie. Yes, that is her real name. She’s got a whopping 817,000 Instagrammers who follow her every move, outfit and shoe purchase, and is what you could rightly call kind of a big deal. Mamamia’s Rosie Waterland, on the other hand, is a big deal thanks to her hilarious way with words, which include, but are not limited to, The Bachelor recaps that literally made us cry with fits of laughter week by week.

Last night the pair crossed paths, or posters at least, to enjoy the highly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey premiere in Sydney last night. Rosie was there to provide what is destined to be one of the greatest reviews of the year, while Sydney Fashion Blogger was probably there to make some fashion PR companies happy on the red carpet (she was wearing Witchery and Constantina the Label, FYI).

We don’t say that as a dig. It’s just, for the most part, what Sydney Fashion Blogger does: blog about fashion. The distinction between their lifestyles was made terribly clear when Rosie took a selfie with a poster of Mr Grey’s behind at the event, and positioned it alongside a photo of Sydney Fashion Blogger with the same poster earlier than night.

While Rosie struggles to get Mr Grey in the frame (a selfie stick might’ve done the trick) as her hand will only extend so far, Sydney Fashion Blogger strikes a pose, champagne in hand, wearing a top that could easily be mistaken as lingerie. “I think someone is way better at this red carpet stuff than me.” read Rosie’s post.

It garnered a bit of “haha” from the commenters, but the point of the matter is that you don’t have to wear lipstick and racy outfits to have your voice heard. Fashionistas admire Sydney Fashion Blogger’s outfit choices, and those with a sense of humour enjoy Rosie’s opinions. But there’s no need for the comparison because these two women are amazing in their own rights, red-carpet know-how or not.

Sydney Fashion Blogger is yet to chime in even though she was tagged, and we wouldn’t be surprised if she felt like Rosie was taking the piss. Besides, isn’t that what most of her recaps are all about?

Jessica Gomes Nails Sexy Sophistication at Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue Party

Out there amongst the likes of Lily Aldridge, Gig Hadid and Chanel Iman, Australian model Jessica Gomes impressed as one of Sports Illustrated‘s all-time favourites at its Swimsuit Issue celebration at New York’s Marquee on February 10.

Having appeared in the issue many times before, the Perth-raised model didn’t feel the need to overdo it. Instead, she went for a sexy-yet-sophisticated look in black high-neck crop teamed with an Elizabeth and James black thigh-split skirt.

She finished the look with snakeskin tie-up Kurt Geiger heels, gold Sara Weinstock bracelets and casual middle-parted hair. Talk about effortlessly amazing. While we were disappointed not to see fellow Aussie Robyn Lawley at the event, we’re chuffed that Jessica was able to rep down under as an all-round babe.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, here are some of her shots from the issue:

AVO Against Jodhi Meares’ Fiancé Stands After Assault Charge

Jodhi Meares

Photo: Don Arnold/Getty

Fashion designer and ex-wife of bazillionaire James Packer, Jodhi Meares, was reportedly involved in a domestic incident with her fiancé, Noiseworks singer Jon Stevens, earlier this week, and now the pair might not be able to contact one another until a hearing three months from now.

News.com.au reports that police were called to a Wolseley Road premises in the early hours of Monday morning, February 9, after hearing of a domestic argument involving a 52-year-old man and 42-year-old woman. Rose Bay Local Area Command’s officers visited the site, where they spoke to the couple and reportedly wound up arresting Stevens.

Stevens was taken to Waverley Police Station and charged with assault before being released on bail. Rose Bay police applied for an interim AVO which, if granted, would restrict Stevens from contacting Meares for 28 days.

The musician was scheduled for a hearing before Waverley Local Court today, February 12, but Sydney Confidential reports that neither Meares or Stevens showed up. The interim AVO will now be in place until the next hearing on May 18.

Meares’ laywer, Chris Murphy, claims the AVO was sought by Rose Bay police “in accordance with normal procedures”, and that Meares is not fearful of Stevens after their alleged domestic argument early Monday morning, February 9. “She is totally without fear or concerns in relation to any future conduct,” he said in a statement posted to his Twitter. “I am also instructed by my client that there is absolutely no history of violence in the relationship.”

According to news.com.au, Meares, the founder of swimwear label Tigerlily and new activewear label The Upside, suffered a minor injury to her wrist during the alleged domestic, which reportedly occurred after she found text messages on Stevens’ phone.

Dark and Moody Get-Ups for 2015 ASTRA Awards Nominations

The 2015 ASTRA Awards nominations event went down at Sydney’s The Star last night, with subscription television stars hitting up Autumn trends early in dark, moody hues and timeless LBDs.

Scroll through below to see our favourite looks from the night, and get some solid inspiration for your wardrobe come summer’s end.

Ksenija Lukich

Photo: Don Arnold/Getty

E! Australia’s host, Ksenija Lukich, stepped out in an Autumn 2015 Manning Cartell frock, made adorable with textural lace embroidery and an apron-style neckline. She polished off the look with black pointed-toe heels, red lips and a messy pony.

Tara Rushton

Photo: Don Arnold/Getty

Nominated for the most outstanding female presenter, Tara Rushton went for dark-romance florals by Kookaï, with the lighter hues popping thanks to her two-tone monochromatic shoes. We’re loving the high neck and elbow-length sleeves of this piece, and we think it could’ve easily gone into sports-luxe territory had she opted for a slicked-back do.

Danielle Cormack

Actress Danielle Cormack, who is up for the most outstanding performance award by a female actor for her role in Wentworth, opted for all-black elegance in a caped Carla Zampatti LBD. A jewelled clutch and ankle-tie shoes by Jimmy Choo finished the look.

Kate Peck

Kate Peck helped her fellow model presenter Ksenija host the show in a nightly ensemble by Faddoul. The dark blues and purples, combined with sparkly crop, crystal necklace and icy-blonde hair has us bewitched.

Sarah Jessica Parker Partners with Australian-Born Label TOME NYC

Shoe lovers rejoice! Sarah Jessica Parker is collaborating with the Australian designers of New York-based label TOME, Ramon Martin and Ryan Lobo, for their New York Fashion Week Fall 2015 show this Thursday, marking the first time SJP shoes have ever partnered with another brand.

SJP Collection announced the news to its Instagram early this morning, writing, “So excited to finally reveal our partnership with crazy talented team @TomeNYC for their NYFW FW15 show.”

It continued, “Feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Ryan and Ramon, and I’m quite fond of the shoes we’ve created together for the occasion. All four styles will be available following the show on @ModaOperandi. Stay tuned! Thank you Ryan and Ramon. So looking forward to Thursday. X, Sj.”

While we can sit here and replay Carrie Bradshaw shoe quotes all day long, Vogue reports that one half of the design duo, Ryan, has been “obsessed” with the quintessential New Yorker since her role in L.A. Story back in 1991. As for the one and only SJP, she’d never met either designers before but explained she “had admired them from afar”.

The pointed-toe pumps will come in turqoise, an almost-black navy, a dark olive-green and a poppy-coral, and will be available via Moda Operandi immediately after TOME’s runway show on Thursday.

Hello, lover!

Elle Macpherson is Kicking Herself for Not Wearing Sunscreen as a Youngin

ElleMacpherson-TheSuperElixir

Photo: WENN

Ladies and gentlemen of the class of ’99, if Elle Macpherson could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.

The 50-year-old supermodel is kicking herself for not wearing skin protection, telling The Gloss that it’s the biggest mistake she made back in the day. When regrets are formed on the daily during those formative years, ranging from disappointing your parents, to the racoon-eyeliner technique you thought was cool, we best be listening to the girl. Here’s what “The Body” had to say:

“My greatest regret from when I was younger was that I didn’t protect my skin from the sun — even though I think I look better with a tan,” Elle told The Gloss. “I have plenty of freckles all over my body, and I haven’t done anything about it. There’s no point in doing lasers because I’m in the sun all the time anyway, but I think sunblock is really important now. Always 50+ SPF.”

If you think Elle’s looking good at 50, imagine how darn fine she’d be looking had she lathered up on the scientifically proven skin protection. Lesson learned!

New American Apparel CEO Paula Schneider Is Revamping the Label’s Smutty Image

Less sleaze, please! Now that Dov Charney is out of the picture, American Apparel can press forward under its new CEO, Paula Schneider. And for those who aren’t too keen on the retailer’s racy image, this news might come as a delight.

Image: American Apparel

Image: American Apparel

Schneider is looking to uphold the brand’s edgy vibe, but cut back on the borderline (or sometimes downright) indecent image the label has cultivated in the past. Schneider says she wants to focus on American Apparel’s social consciousness and kick the smut to the curb, instead highlighting issues like gay rights and the company’s Made in America angle.

“There’s a way to tell our story where it’s not offensive,” Schneider said. “It is an edgy brand. And it will continue to be an edgy brand.”

So could this be the end of T&A and crotch shots for American Apparel? Possibly. And something tells us that the old image won’t be missed.

Kanye West Wore His New Adidas Sneaker Design Last Night

It’s been a while since Kanye West announced he was breaking things off with Nike to collaborate with Adidas, and for about that same amount of time, we’ve been itching to see what the rapper has been working on with the athletic brand. With his range for Adidas rumored to be debuting this week, it’s only natural that Yeezy would give us a little teaser at the Grammys.

Last night, we got a glimpse of Kanye’s project with the brand, thanks to a backstage snap before his Grammys performance, courtesy of Virgil Abloh, Kanye’s friend and designer behind Off-White. Abloh posted an image straight from Yeezy’s dressing room, a shoe selfie with all of Kanye’s team rocking the same kicks. If there was any doubt that this is what Kanye has up for his Adidas collaboration, a quick look at Kylie Jenner’s (of all people) Instagram shows her sporting the same shoes, captioning the photo “Yeezy.”

Kylie’s shoes are more of a neutral camel color, while Yeezy and team opted for what looks like grayish. The kicks are rumored to be called the “Yeezy Boost” and boast suede laces and a Velcro strap. Kanye apparently also wore the shoes to the Roc Nation Pre-Grammy Brunch earlier this weekend.

Sneakerheads, rejoice: The shoes you’ve long waited for are nearly in your clutches.

Gisele Bündchen Lands Her Second Vogue Cover This Month (Forum Buzz)

Is February about to be the best month ever for Gisele Bündchen? We started the week off seeing Gisele on U.K. Vogue‘s March cover, and now Vogue China has released its latest installment featuring the Brazilian bombshell, also lensed by Mario Testino. The supermodel sports her trademark sun-kissed glow, wearing a colorful creation from Chanel’s Spring 2015 collection (Mrs. Brady is the face of both Chanel’s RTW mainline and No. 5 fragrance campaign this season).

But have our forum members had just about enough? “What did they do to her face?” asked iclawhands within moments of the cover surfacing.

“I don’t like it. Her face looks weird and the styling is too much,” added A.D.C., suggesting some airbrushing had taken place.

“I love Gisele but this styling is not working for me at all. The Photoshop on her eyes is terrible. How come Testino’s team did a great job at U.K. Vogue and then this?” kokobombon slammed.

Also not a fan was anlabe32: “Sick of her. She’s becoming as boring as Chanel itself.”

“The angle on her face is a bit unflattering, yet she still manages to draw you in. I bet this will look great in print, and I love the colors!” noted Miss Dalloway, shifting the mood of the thread.

“She is such an unstoppable force it’s ridiculous!” credited an impressed marsnoop2.

Forum member la veronika seemed pleased to see Gisele gain another cover. “Happy for another Vogue cover, regardless! Her Vogue cover total is more than impressive and what’s more impressive is that it keeps growing,” she admired.

Karlie Kloss Is the New Face of Joe Fresh

Are you ready to get super fresh? Canadian fast fashion retailer Joe Fresh has announced that supermodel Karlie Kloss will be the new face of the Spring 2015 campaign.

The long-limbed bombshell, who is also fronting campaigns for Kate Spade and Marc Jacobs this spring, is the embodiment of the brand’s minimalist chic aesthetic. “My style is very simple and chic and I think these pieces are right up my alley,” Karlie said in a statement. Initial images depict the super bronzed model with tousled hair and barely-there makeup lying languorously across the floor in front of a white, seamless backdrop dressed in Joe Fresh’s classic streamlined looks, including military-inspired and basic black and white outfits. She also stars alongside male model Henrik Fallenius in shots that show her sporting casual Breton stripes as well as one shot where they both wear double denim and effectively take the Canadian tuxedo to sexy new heights.

The campaign was shot in New York by Steven Sebring and debuts on February 9.

“I agree U.K. Vogue definitely needs to use Nick Knight more, he’s so fantastic! Jourdan looks amazing, I think her cover is my favorite. I also love Joan, Lais and Lily D – really striking covers!” replied LastNight in agreement.

Sharing the same sentiments was KateTheGreatest: “I love it, all the models look so good and Nick Knight is amazing.”

“This is great. Looking forward to the contents, might be the first issue of 10 I buy in years,” shared an excited mistress_f.

“Joan kills it. This is such a good idea,” gossiping proclaimed.

“Joan’s is the best, by far. It’s classic. That body is out of this world. I love the black & white. I adore the scale of her in the space with that flowy material. Really breathtaking image,” added happycanadian.

David Gandy Could Have Played Christian Grey in Fifty Shades

Image: WENN

Image: WENN

We have absolutely zero complaints that Jamie Dornan is playing Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie. And why would we? We will literally accept any excuse to watch that man do anything – even read a Sears catalog. But it turns out that there was another hottie up for the role, a hottie who also happens to be our ultimate man crush. People, imagine David Gandy as Christian Grey, because according to the model, it could have totally happened since he was offered that role…amongst others.

“I was offered Fifty Shades of Grey, 300 2, Hercules, which a lot of people probably would have taken as actors,” he told Square Mile, “but I’m in the fortunate position where I like what I’m doing. I don’t feel the need to act.” Though the movie’s been generating a lot of hype, Gandy doesn’t regret turning down the role. “Critics and literary experts aren’t fans but I respect it for what it is. But was it right for me? No. It just didn’t feel right, in any way. And in my gut, it felt right to say no. Sometimes it’s about what you say no to, as opposed to what you say yes to that can lead to success.”

Will we forgive David Gandy for depriving us of 20 minutes of him acting in sex scenes? Only barely. But we think more than a few people would agree he would have made for another extremely handsome Christian Grey.

Katy Perry Gives Major Side-Eye on ELLE’s March Cover (Forum Buzz)

After a spectacular Super Bowl performance, ELLE‘s cover star couldn’t be more timely. Katy Perry, who released the image via her Instagram page, gives us some major side-eye on the cover of the March issue. Photographed by Michael Thompson (a refreshing choice for ELLE), the “Teenage Dream” songstress wears Giambattista Valli paired with Chanel earrings, styled by Lori Goldstein. The sophisticated look is a new approach for the 30-year-old American raven-haired beauty, who usually opts for more cheeky and colorful outfits. We like!

US ELLE March 2015 Katy Perry

IMAGE: INSTAGRAM/KATYPERRY

But do our forum members agree? “This angle for her face is not the best one in my opinion, but she looks good. Nice styling too,” posted Emmanuelle, getting us off to a mixed start.

“I like the styling but the pose looks too stiff and forced and yes, the angle. The layout seems off even though change is good. Looks very subscribers. Light pink on a gray background?” MON questioned.

“Really bad angle and that awful gray background!” discredited GlamorousBoy.

Tinsley V soon changed the mood. “I really like this! Love the colors, the styling … looks really fresh and pretty for spring,” she complimented.

Also feeling the same way was Benn98: “A new dawn!! So glad to see Michael Thompson paired with the redesign for ELLE. He’ll hopefully shake things up a bit. You can see a world of difference between this and Paola Kudacki’s usual grey drab. I’m not really interested in what Katy has to say, but I’ll still get this.”

“It does look a bit amateur but I like it a lot – it’s clean and unobtrusive, also feminine and very spring. It’s a hip and modern layout without using hashtags and that stuff,” noted t-rex.

Everything You Need to Know About Mascara Wands

mascara wands

image: Getty

If you rely on makeup to play up your eyes, you know that your eyelashes are only as good as your mascara. But what does your mascara depend on, besides a killer formula? It all comes down to the wand, and there’s so much more to a mascara wand than meets, well, the eye.

Take a glance at several different mascara wands and you’ll notice one very significant difference: The bristles vary dramatically from wand to wand. Bristle shape largely determines the outcome of how your mascara will dramatize your eyelashes.

The Straight Wand

The classic straight wand is a foolproof, easy-to-use tool that is available in varying levels of thickness. A thinner wand is ideal for the woman with naturally thick eyelashes. A thicker eyelash does not necessarily require the oomph that a volume-building brush delivers, but the thin wand still gives lashes the star treatment they deserve. Lashes are separated and beautifully defined as well as lengthened and thickened depending on the formula.

The Thick Wand

Those who want to plump up their eyelashes will benefit from thick, straight mascara brushes. Thick bristles add extra volume to lashes and give them a plush appearance that would make magazine cover models envious. If exaggerated lashes aren’t your thing, opt for a brush of medium thickness for a more natural finish.

The Comb Wand

Most women are unfortunately familiar with the dreaded clumpy eyelash. It comes either as a result of smudged makeup or a goopy formula, and in neither case is it a pretty sight. The solution? Try a comb mascara wand, which literally rakes product through your eyelashes and evenly coats each lash for a clean look. Clumps are ancient history and lashes are naturally defined.

The Curved Wand

When the curved mascara wand was introduced, it was to the great exaltation of the beauty world. Lashes suddenly had a whole new look to enjoy and it was all thanks to this shapely brush. Ideal for straight lashes, curved wands add significant curl and can even lend the eye area a more refreshed, awake appearance. The key is to apply mascara with the curved side pressed against the lashes, gently stroking upward in a slight side to side motion to yield a shapelier lash.

The Tapered Wand

Never underestimate the power of the tapered wand, which is a simple yet highly effective tool for invigorating lackluster lashes. With its thick base and small tip, it’s versatile enough to achieve almost any look — think dramatic cat eyes with played up corners or intricately defined individual lashes. The slimmer end is ideal for focusing on those hard-to-reach areas, while the thick side instantly fattens lashes.

The Spherical Wand

It’s the tools that look a little offbeat that add something special to the mix. A wand with a spherical end offers a completely newfangled approach to applying mascara. The ball at the end is sized just right for separating lashes, and since it’s generally on the small side, it’s easy to grab and coat each lash. The result: Seriously standout eyes that pop.

Josh Goot “Confident” Of Surviving Voluntary Administration

Photo: Getty

Photo: Getty

Prepare your heart to break a little. Josh Goot’s eponymous line is going into voluntary administration, in a bid to save the business he founded over 10 years ago.

Goot revealed in a statement (via The Australian ) that the company needs “to take some time to restructure to protect the long-term interests of the brand and all involved,” but has not pinpointed any specific challenges that the label is facing.

He did, however, admit that there were “well-documented external factors at play within the domestic industry” including the Australian dollar, domestic production costs, and international competition.

But unlike recent fashion-label casualties like Lisa Ho and Kirrily Johnston, Goot has been able to keep his label’s head above water during the toughest of times in our fickle landscape. “The retail market has witnessed a prolonged downturn since the GFC in 2008 and we are proud that we have been able to sustain and grow the business throughout the challenging period, while manufacturing exclusively in Australia,” he said.

Goot’s also hinting at many more years of dressing his devoted customers, like his girlfriend, Vogue Australia fashion director Christine Centenera, Lara Bingle and Kim Kardashian, in his label’s sought-after digital prints, sharp cuts and luxurious fabrications. “We’re confident that we can emerge from the voluntary administration as a better business,” he said.

“We are (as a brand), I think, unique in the Australian landscape and that doesn’t necessarily make our experience easier, but I also think that it does give us a real future and that’s what we’re going to be working to secure,” he added.

As for the upcoming collections, business is going about as usual with the Autumn 2015 collection launching next month (look out for it at tonight’s David Jones fashion launch) and design and production for Spring 2015 in the works.

We’re crossing our fingers for a speedy recovery, because our wardrobes just won’t be the same without a little Josh Goot injection.

Feminine Tank Tops: The Love List

If you want to feel nice and comfy in an effortless tank but still feel feminine, we’ve got some good news for you! All it takes is a little fashion know-how to veer away from the mannish vibe a tank tends to lend itself to.

Turn to girlie colourways like pink, pastel hues and crisp whites and opt for delicate fabrics like silk of chiffon for some instant ladylike appeal. If you’re feeling a little more creative, choose interesting detailing like frills, pleats, or cut-out detailing on either the tank itself or the bottoms, to strategically strip some masculinity from the piece.

To inspire you, we’ve picked out some pieces from the web in our gallery below.

Whitney Port’s Business Know-How Scores Her a Renegade Collective Cover

Photo: Renegade Collective

Photo: Renegade Collective

When the name Whitney Port comes to mind, many of us think to the unforgettable facials she’d exchange with Lauren Conrad at the Teen Vogue office in The Hills, or her intimate forehead sex with Miranda Kerr’s ex-boyfriend Jay Lyon in The City.

But her MTV stardom isn’t what scored her a cover on entrepreneurial magazine Renegade Collective. In fact, the glossy’s editor-in-chief, Lisa Messenger, admits that she’s never watched one episode of the supposed-reality shows.

“Despite the fact that I’m not generally a reality television fan, and my knowledge of celebrities is notoriously sketchy, I know exactly who Whitney Port is,” Lisa explained to theFashionSpot. “She’s a fashion designer. A businesswoman.”

Lisa particularly admires how Whitney climbed her way up the rickety ladder of the fashion industry, from lunch-grabbing intern to business owner, something she says Renegade Collective readers “can relate with an aspire to”.

For Whitney’s interview, Renegade Collective was more interested in what went on behind the lavish work trips to Paris and budding high-profile office friendships we so hopelessly watched on TV, finding out the nitty-gritty details of how the leggy blonde has turned herself and her label, Whitney Eve, into one heck of a brand.

That’s right, it’s time to forget Whitney’s reality TV fame and finally get in touch her, ah, real reality, by picking up a copy of Renegade Collective from a news stand now.

Watch: The Only Australian Super Bowl Commercial

Contrary to our clogged social feeds, Katy Perry’s outfits weren’t the only noteworthy thing from Sunday’s Super Bowl. Amidst the advertising hoo-ha, Michael Hill Jewellers acted as the only Australian brand to slot in an ad during the commercial decadence that was.

The 30-second clip really yanks at the heartstrings, and could even jerk a tear if you’re the emotional type, by asking over 1,200 New Yorkers all about love. The result is moving, showing love in all its forms, and the lengths we would go to for that thing that makes the world go round. Some would fight for it, cheat for it, turn for it and die for it, but something’s telling us Micheal Hill wants us to go out and buy jewellery for it.

Michael Hill International’s Chief Marketing Officer, Joe Talcott, said of the “We’re for Love” concept in a news release, “Super Bowl offers us a unique opportunity to showcase our brand in front of millions of people.” He added, “We’ve been working on this campaign for over a year now and have invested a substantial amount in the development of the platform – so to be able to launch it in key markets during the Super Bowl is very exciting.”

Considering so many people were exposed to the message, we’re glad it’s a positive one which makes us feel all fluttery and gooey inside. We don’t think it would’ve snapped up a highly sought-after position if it wasn’t an idea worth sharing. Spread the love, you guys, and watch the video for yourself below.

Gigi Hadid is the New Face of Seafolly

Model-of-the-moment Gigi Hadid has been tapped as Seafolly’s latest face, and, with her striking facial structure, bangin’ bod and sunkissed skin, it’s not hard to see why. Plus, we think her surfer-boy lover, Cody Simpson, is going to totally dig her beach-babe look for the Australian label.

The swimwear brand announced the news of its newest 19-year-old model via Instagram, in the early hours of this morning, writing, “Meet the new face of Seafolly for 2015, @gigihadid!! We are in love!!XX #seafolly #thefaceofseafolly faceofseafolly #summer2015.”

The buzzy model was scouted during her brief trip down under last November. “I met a few people from Seafolly when I was in Australia for the Melbourne Cup horse race,” she told Style.com. “We had a little fitting, and then I met them in Tulum for the shoot.”

The busty blonde added that, when it comes to swimwear, a one-piece is more practical for her body shape. “It’s actually really nice in a swimsuit. It supports better,” she explained to Style.com. “There’s this cropped shirt that zips up the front and I felt like a Bond Girl in it.” Now, there’s an idea!

Gigi will join the ranks of Miranda Kerr, Jessica Hart, Catherine McNeil and Martha Hunt, who have all lent their face and bodies to Seafolly campaigns in the past, and is the first model to come aboard since the Aussie label sold controlling interest to L Capital Asia, the Asian arm of global luxury brand Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH).

Congrats, Gigi!
