The Look: Beautifully pared-down looks in delightfully bold, solid colors. Though simplicity comes in and out of style — and this show was a wonderful break from the onslaught of embellishment from other designers — Rodriguez is the master of this concept in New York. The designer manages to make a T-shirt dress come to life, perfectly tailored to sit a bit off the body and in a great orange/coral color. Luxurious silky fabrics stood out on simple dresses, meaning that these pieces will look like the most expensive pieces in the room, no matter how long it took to sew all the beads on some other gown. The colorplay was subdued but effective, with simple stripes coloring half a dress and a chunk of white marking a black sleeveless dress. There were some sequins involved for festive looks, but with full planes and wispy designs, even those felt a bit pulled-back.
The Accessories: We really like the heels with a swoopy cut-out and the sporadic clutches.
The Beauty: Middle parts, clean faces and thick brows.
The Casting: We see you, Grace Mahary and show opener/closer Julia Nobis.
The Takeaway: King Rodriguez continues his reign of simplicity.
