The Inspiration: Aztec, 80s and menswear.
The Look: This season, Issa once again continued on the path started with its Pre-Fall collection by doing a 180 from the brand's signature. Out were the monochrome draped goddess dresses and in were large swirling geometric prints, cartoonish florals, textured tops and menswear-inspired cuts. Die-hard fans need not worry — Blue Farrier did deliver some jewel-toned draped dresses — but they far from dominated the lineup, which often took on an Aztec or 80s feel depending on the shape of the colorblocked patterns. Silhouettes veered toward the oversized, which further hit home that the brand is going in a new direction. Cozy wraps, loosely-tailored outerwear, slouchy knits and a top with what appeared to be wide stripes of colored fabric draped down from the model's neck were among the collection's standouts.
The Accessories: Ankle strap sandals with a geometric center strap to tie into the overall Aztec feel of the collection.
The Beauty: Soft eyes, an orange lip and side-swept hair.
The Takeaway: It's never easy to play with a successful formula, but Farrier is off to a good start in expanding Issa's reach.
