Burberry Prorsum Retreats to the Countryside for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Scene: Tinie Tempah, who just performed at the BAFTAs, Naomie Harris, Harry Styles, Jamie Campbell Bower, Alison Mosshart and Felicity Jones were all seated front row.

The Inspiration: The Bloomsbury set’s country retreat at Charleston in East Sussex, England.

The Look: This season there was a lot to take in with Christopher Bailey’s print-heavy and layered collection for Burberry Prorsum — in a good way. Though many of the looks, as styled on the runway, would arguably look bulky on anything but a svelte physique, the models dazzled as they walked the runway in looks that were full of movement and blossoming with prints. Layered shawls, blanket coats, scarves, trench coats and lots of belted silhouettes made for refreshingly original looks. Most came covered in flower, vine or geometric motifs in keeping with the designer's countryside inspiration and though florals are often more associated with spring, the earthy color palette made the collection fall-appropriate. Undoubtedly, the wool and cashmere blankets that many of the models walked out with (worn as shawls) will become must-haves for the luxury set.

The Accessories: Bags this season were similarly eye-catching — oversized with small handles and a slightly rounded silhouette. They were covered with floral or geometric motifs and came fashioned out of a variety of fabrics, including velvet. Shoes were semi-slouchy peep-toe booties.

The Beauty: As has been the running theme this season, hair and makeup were kept exceedingly natural. Hair was parted in the middle and blown out straight, while makeup was muted.

The Takeaway: A beautifully executed collection with plenty of pieces worth their investment price tags.
