Joseph Sets Its Sights on Outerwear for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Inspiration: The modern woman who prefers a muted palette and contemporary looks.

The Look: Dark, fall-ready colors for a variety of killer outerwear pieces, including wool coats with slim lapels, fisherman-inspired peacoats and short pocketed coats. The most curious piece was a monochrome quilt-esque sweater. Think funnel-necked, ribbed and pieced-together, at first appearing as a cape until you see the sleeves that suddenly appear around the elbow. It looks, well, upside down, but we're sure there are some folks out there who can pull this weirdo piece off with aplomb. Other garments were finished with fringe or used just enough pattern to keep it interesting. We are really into the patterned knitwear, especially the tartan matching sweater and pants.

The Accessories: Heeled mules and flat booties along with a few neutral-colored beanies.

The Beauty: The "no-makeup" makeup look plus thick eyebrows.

The Takeaway: It's a collection that could look boring at first glance, but certainly isn't.
