The Inspiration: Cotton candy, textural friction.
The Look: When's the last time Miuccia Prada didn't absolutely charm every fashion nerd everywhere with one of her collections? This show will do well to just add to her portfolio of perfection: winter pastels, brocade in the best way and downright sporty looks. The best is when all three concept were styled together into one outfit (an ice-blue brocade dress topped with a salmon-colored anorak topped with a blue/red colorblock cardigan). Also, the brocade dresses, blocked with coordinating colored vinyl, were a treat and will certainly be on any number of it-girls as soon as possible. Brocade jackets with blocked panels skewed both 70s and surprisingly early-80s, but the fancied-up twist will make them wearable today. Other highlights? Honestly, it's hard to choose when everything the designer touches is magically turned into an ingenious (and rightful) hit. Quilting and loose silhouettes have us (almost) wishing we could wear coats — this cool — for just a little while longer this season.
The Accessories: Bow-topped texture-blocked shoes that mimic rain boots (but certainly aren't, given the high heel), the pointiest pumps.
The Beauty: Flattened, center-parted hair (helmet head has never looked so good) and icy makeup — iced-plum lip gloss, light yellow eye shadow.
The Takeaway: Leave it to Miuccia Prada to prove that "ice dream" is NOT just a delicious frosty treat from a certain fast-food chain — it's also this collection.
