Acne Piles on the Psychedelic for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Inspiration: The 60s and 70s.

The Look: This season's Jonny Johansson-designed Acne collection was rife with fantastic prints and colors, though they didn't always make for the most wearable looks. Most of the missteps can be attributed to styling, however, including mismatched print-on-print looks along with oddball hats and disk-shaped necklaces that came widely oversized. Among the season’s high notes were wraps that appeared to be pinned onto the models, chunky knit sweaters with extra long sleeves, utilitarian-style monochrome dresses and tops as well as psychedelic prints on everything from drawstring anoraks (even one done in zebra ponyskin) to below-the-knee skirts.

The Accessories: Square-toe oxfords, below-the-knee boots, oversized hats and oversized metal disc "necklaces."

The Beauty: Muted faces, while hair was side-parted, tightly smoothed to the models' head and pulled back.

The Takeaway: Acne always has a bit of quirk and while most women will probably not want to wear an oversized knit with psychedelic print trousers, when taken apart there was much to love.
