Moschino is a label truly able to mix concept pieces with complete accessibility—a noble feat. This season's runway show combined the brand's signature of not taking itself too seriously with a huge 30th anniversary celebration, complete with more than a few famous faces.
Clothing-wise, this season was a little country (cowboy hats, cow appliques), a little bit quirky (mid-century shirtdresses accessorized with a pearl-and-croissant necklace). Most looks were shown side-by-side in two iterations—for the good persona, the bad persona. Think pretty frilly dresses next to bra top outfits finished with belts that read "bad girl." This duality direction was a neat way to see a lot of great clothes quickly. But don't think that Moschino is done rabble rousing on this big occasion. Among the really lovely, accessible looks were the brand's staple quirked-up pieces: a floaty gown made of plastic bags, a silkscreened T-shirt depicting a stereotypical Italian meal. That Moschino can show both straight looks and semi-ironic ones, and have them all be covetable speaks to the house's staying power. We're thinking that this anniversary certainly won't be the last major one Moschino ever celebrates.
