Sam Frost has been chosen as the new rose-master of Australia’s first-ever The Bachelorette. We know it couldn’t have been an easy decision for Sam, especially considering what happened last time, so we thought we’d catch up with her best bud from The Bachelor mansion, runner-up Lisa Hyde, to see why Sam’s giving love a second chance, publicly.

“I was very shocked to hear the news this morning,” Lisa tells theFashionSpot. When asked about Sam’s change of heart, after she said she turned the offer down last month, Lisa says “She wasn’t ready for it back then.” She continues, “She just didn’t consider it at all and I think she was still going through stages. I definitely think she would’ve sat down and really thought about it and what she really wanted.”

Despite Sam’s humiliation on the show last year, when bachie Blake Garvey proposed to her on national TV but dumped her before the finale aired, Lisa is confident Sam knows what she’s getting herself into. “I’m not worried,” she says. “I think she knows what she’s doing and I don’t think she would enter into it if she wasn’t 100 per cent sure that she wanted to do it.”

If anything. Lisa’s pretty excited for her friend. “Everyone has followed her journey and has seen the heartbreak. It’d be nice for her to come through and meet a nice guy,” she tells us. Plus, Sam’s down-to-earth nature means this season will be far closer to a “reality show” than the last. “I don’t think she has a problem showing the guys who she actually is as a person,” Lisa says.

Interestingly, Lisa wasn’t approached to fill the role of The Bachelorette, which she believes comes down to her relationship with model Tyson Mayr. “There was never that open window or open gap to be asked,” she explains, saying that she met Tyson pretty much straight after the show. “I would’ve said no because I don’t think I’d be as strong as Sammy, and I’d find it really hard to let people down.”

If we had one word for Sam it too would be “strong”. Because If we went through what she went through last year, we’d probably retreat into a hermit shell until we knew that Blake and Louise Pillidge had moved overseas or something.

Instead Sam’s giving this crazy thing called love another shot, looking hotter than ever, mind you, this time with 20+ guys vying for her attention. We can’t wait to see it all unfold.
