Glitter and Houndstooth at the MTV Australia Style Launch

Kate Peck, Mimi Elashiry and Geordie Shore’s Vicky Pattison hit Sydney’s Chicwick restaurant yesterday for the launch of MTV Australia Style, turning up in a mix of kooky twin sets, glittery separates and monochromatic prints.

Vicky rocked a 50s housewife vibe in a houndstooth midi skirt teamed with a high-neck crop from her VIP collection for Honey Boutique, and looked a little rockabilly with red lips and matching pointed-toe heels.

MTV VJ Kate was pulling double duty as Myer ambassador, attending the event in a sparkly ensemble by one of the department store’s designers, Jayson Brunsdon. The icy blonde rocked a brown button-up blouse with gold-sequinned panels, tucked into a shiny pink tube skirt and toned down with black two-strap pumps. “Watch out world!! I’m going to blind you with my #discostyle,” she wrote of the outfit to Instagram. Hey, at least she warned us.

Pint-sized Mimi, who was announced as the website’s new style ambassador (probably due to her 510,000 Instagram followers), wore an epic outfit by Di$count Univer$e. Even with the other girls towering over her, Mimi still stood out in the rainbow-coloured getup adorned with belt buckles.

Karl Lagerfeld Photographs Gisele Bündchen and Choupette for Vogue Brazil (Forum Buzz)

Gisele Bündchen and Karl Lagerfeld have become fast friends. The Brazilian bombshell was spotted shooting the upcoming Chanel campaign in Paris this month, currently stars in the brand’s No. 5 fragrance campaign and now poses on the cover of Vogue Brazil with the German designer’s beloved cat Choupette. No doubt photographed in Lagerfeld’s studio in Paris, Gisele sports a bouffant hairstyle and thick eyeliner complemented by a nude lip as she hugs Choupette close for the magazine’s December cover.

IMAGE: INSTAGRAM/DANIELAFALCAO1 VIA TFS FORUMS

But oddly enough, our forum members are left with mixed feelings toward the cover. “No thanks. Why is coral such a popular cover color all of a sudden? Reminds me of my mother’s nail color! Looks like they’ve got a new art direction, I don’t like it. Also don’t like Gisele’s pin-up/bed head hair. Looks cheap. All this is very underwhelming, I hope her Chanel campaign won’t look like this,” commented an underwhelmed Benn98, who started the thread off on a negative note.

“Sarah Jessica Parker, is that you?” questioned Bruce7Lee.

KateTheGreatest didn’t seem to share the same sentiments and posted, “Gisele makes anything work, even if it is shot by Lagerfeld.”

Things were looking up! “Choupette is so cute. I guess Gisele has become Karl’s new muse,” added fashionlover2001.

“So Gisele got a Chanel makeup ad, No. 5 ad, Spring Summer 2015 ad and is Karl’s new obsession. What’s next? Fendi? Salzburg? Couture? She is having a great year!” replied an amazed Lola701.

Also posting his approval for the cover was Elfinkova: “Oh I love it! She looks like her old self here.”

Benn98 returned to the thread and proclaimed, “Good grief, only noticed now. Choupette got second billing again, like she did last time on Vogue Germany!!! This is crazy.”

Everyone’s Undies are Showing, and We’re Not Sure How to Feel About it

We’re not sure why, but everyone has a penchant for showing their underwear lately. Whether it’s on the runway, the streets, parties or red carpets, girl are opting for sheer skirts, dresses and pants which draw attention to their intimates.

Sure it might look good on leggy supermodels, who are more often than not the ones to turn to this trend, but if you’re not daring or confident in your own body, you don’t stand a chance in the revealing style. Not to mention that-time-of-the-month dramas or the off chance that all your good underwear is in the washing machine.

It seems like more hassle than it’s worth, but we’ll let you decide if you like the look of the trend with our gallery below. If you do decide it’s for you, there’s a couple of online options in there too.

From the Beauty Closet: Kérastase Carré Lissant Touch-Up Sheets for Your Hair

kerastase-carre-lissant-thefashionspot

IMAGE: COURTESY OF Kérastase

Most beauty lovers have heard about professional hairstylists using dryer sheets as a hack to eliminate frizz and leave hair with a fresh scent. Guess what? This trick works and the folks at luxury haircare brand Kérastase are capitalizing on this by creating the first-ever hairstyle touch-up sheets. They’re not the dryer sheets you are probably envisioning, but they have a strong resemblance. Carré Lissant sheets are specifically designed to help smooth frizz, add shine and protect hair from humidity and static. Did we mention they’re lightly fragranced? The mix of rose, patchouli and grapefruit blend together perfectly for a fresh and clean scent, which is great when you forget to, er, wash your hair or hit up Korean barbecue. These chic sheets come in a portable box, making them essential for holiday travels and stashing in your bag at all times. Yes, they’re on the pricey side, but in the name of beauty, we’re calling these a hit.

Did Kim Kardashian Just Try to Recreate Solange Knowles’ Wedding Photos?

Jesinta Campbell, Samantha Harris Stun at AWOL Launch

Models Jesinta Campbell and Samantha Harris stepped out for the launch of Qantas and Sound Alliance’s new travel title, AWOL, at Sydney’s 1346Venice last night, rocking two very different, yet noteworthy, looks.

Jesinta Campbell

Photo: Brendon Thorne/Getty

Jesinta chose a black midriff-baring dress by lace legends Lover, featuring a front criss-cross bodice and slim-fitting pencil midi skirt to the bottom. She added metallic Stuart Weitzman pointy pumps, which we would’ve preferred in black as the glitzy Alexander McQueen clutch bag and gold arm cuff already mixed things up enough. We loved the statement red lip and soft balayaged waves, though.

Samantha Harris

Photo: Brendon Thorne/Getty

Samantha, on the other hand, didn’t overdo it, and went for simple summery look. She opted for a bright-orange mini dress with a draping wrap-skirt front, and pared it back with neutral open-toe heels. Her makeup was minimal and her hair was a little casual, making the whole getup look effortless.

Much Latex, Little Time for Kim Kardashian in Melbourne

Kim Kardashian

Photo: Scott Barbour/Getty

In case you haven’t heard, Kim Kardashian is developing a bit of a fetish for latex during her time here in Australia. Yesterday she popped into Melbourne’s Chadstone Shopping Centre to promote her new fragrance Fleur Fatale, and thought a skintight latex pencil skirt was the appropriate wardrobe choice to meet her fans of all ages.

She could probably wear a shapeless muumuu and still manage to show off her bewildering curves, so we’re not quite sure why she continues to wear fabric fit for a dominatrix. At least this time she didn’t double up on latex like her red carpet appearance earlier in the week, and chose to break it up with a high-neck David Koma top with chic white piping.

She turned to her favourite Atsuko Kudo for the white-latex midi skirt, and teamed the getup with neutral two-strap heels. Her slick middle-parted low pony and dark-plum lips were to die for, and we actually would’ve praised this outfit if she traded up the latex for, well, anything else.

Sasha Pivovarova Resembles a ‘Runaway from a Psych Ward’ on Vogue Korea’s Cover (Forum Buzz)

We will forever be in favor of Sasha Pivovarova and it’s a pleasure to see the Russian beauty star on Vogue Korea’s December cover. Sasha appears in high spirits sporting a modern short haircut, minimal makeup and wearing an embellished dress and complementing jewelery. The current face of H&M’s Holiday 2015 campaign is certainly no stranger to Vogue Korea as this cover marks the seventh cover appearance for the 29-year-old mother of one. Impressive!

Vogue Korea December 2014 Sasha Pivovarova

IMAGE: FACEBOOK.COM/VOGUEKR VIA TFS FORUMS

But a handful of our forum members are disliking a certain something. “The fact that she is looking away gives it a supplement feel rather than a main cover,” noted TREVOFASHIONISTO, who made a valid point that set the rest of our forum members off.

“That’s exactly what I thought,” replied anlabe32 in agreement.

“I love the shot, it’s vintage Sasha but I agree with you all, eye contact is so important on a cover,” echoed Cosmic Voices.

Also sharing the same sentiments was Nepenthes: “That’s truly gorgeous. I would love it if Sasha was looking at the camera but still very beautiful!”

“Love the styling but I wished she could face us, and for a darker backdrop. It has the same tone as her skin. Hope it’s not a reprint,” proclaimed Benn98.

MyNameIs just wasn’t feeling the cover and commented, “She looks like a runaway from a psych ward. Not a good shot for a Vogue cover.”

We also dislike when cover subjects don’t look out toward us. See inside the thread for more discussion and share your opinion with us here.

Lover Welcomes You to the Dark Side with its Limited-Edition Black Magick Collection

Lover

Photo: Lover

Lover has dipped into its archives to recreate some of its most loved dresses from over the years, to release a Black Magick collection of, you guessed it, all black lace. Luckily for us, the pieces are more sophisticated and sensual than funeral-like and the only tears we’ll be crying in these pieces are ones of joy.

Lover

Photo: Lover

The limited-edition range, full of black-lace mini, midi and maxi dresses, plus jumpsuits for good measure, steer away from being too bewitching with the clever use of white underlays, and keep femininity in check with vintage-style halters, sexy strapless necklines, girlie bows and fun ruffled sleeves.

Lover

Photo: Lover

If this all sounds strikingly familiar to you, it’s because this entire capsule collection is in direct response to Lover’s successful White Magick ranges. The darker, moodier collection was induced through continuous requests for the White Magick pieces in black.

Lover

Photo: Lover

There’s a catch, though (isn’t there always?). Black Magick is available exclusively to Lover’s new Westfield Bondi Junction store, so, if you’re a local or by chance in the area, we suggest you pop on in to get your hands on a piece. Otherwise, good luck on eBay.

Lara Bingle Dodged Fake Tan Stains on Her White Josh Goot Getup

Lara Bingle

Photo: KHAP/GG/GC Images

Lara Bingle is in town promoting her new tanning range, The Base by Lara Bingle, showing off the product’s stain-free qualities by dodging any ugly-orange marks in an all-white Josh Goot getup.

The model-turned-entrepreneur stepped onto the streets of Sydney in a masculine ensemble, including a sports-luxe backless zipper tank teamed with white trousers and a skirt over the top. Even though she was so close to nailing the all-white errythang without a stain in sight, Lara chose to break it up with statement black pumps to add some chic business-woman sophistication.

There no doubt that the crisp-white separates and skin-baring features showed off her fake-tanned skin well, while also promoting the product in a strategic and subtle manner, but we’re not sure how to feel about the overall outfit. We’re pretty open to the pants-under-dresses trend, but the pants-under-skirt look doesn’t seem to be a winner here. So good promo for her tanning line. Josh Goot’s range, not so much.

We’re Thrilled to See Amy Adams Land a Well-Deserved Vogue Cover! (Forum Buzz)

We got a surprise when supermodel Natalia Vodianova unexpectedly turned up on Vogue‘s November cover and now the magazine strikes again by giving us Amy Adams as its December cover star. Photographed by Annie Leibovitz (although we originally presumed Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot the cover due to the over-airbrushing), the American Hustle star posed for the ravishing cover image wearing a Valentino creation from the Fall 2014 Couture collection and we’re loving it!

US Vogue December 2014 Amy Adams

IMAGE: FASHIONSCANSREMASTERED.NET VIA TFS FORUMS

Forum members were quick to respond when the cover first surfaced on our forums over the weekend. “What a surprise!!! Ahh Amy. Not sure about her expression and what she’s wearing but I’m just so happy that it’s her!! AH!!” enthused MON, who got the thread off to a positive start.

“It’s about damn time. She looks incredible imo,” added TREVOFASHIONISTO.

A.D.C. was feeling it, too and commented, “Aww I love it!! Another redhead for December!! I always love how US Vogue’s December covers convey a sense of the Holiday season even if they’re not outright festive looking. This one reminds me a little of a Christmas ornament in a chic way.”

“Way, way, way overdue. Embarrassed for people who don’t realize that fact. Like her, or don’t like her, she’s been in some of the biggest/best movies of the past 4 years with The Fighter, The Master, American Hustle, Her. And given great performances in each of them,” credited HeatherAnne.

Also sharing the same sentiments was Miss Dalloway: “I find this to be a perfect US Vogue cover, it all works, she looks amazing, the dress is a bit daring, but still chic, and it manages to look festive without being tacky. Wonder if Annie or perhaps Mert & Marcus shot this…” she questioned.

Marc10 wasn’t admiring the amount of post-production the cover received and wrote, “By the look of the retouching on her face this is by Mert & Marcus.”

Are you as happy as we are to see Amy score her first-ever Vogue cover? Check out some previews inside the thread and tell us what you think here.

Here Are the Photos of Kendall Jenner’s Vogue December 2014 Spread (Forum Buzz)

She’s here to stay, so we had better get used to it. Social media sensation Kendall Jenner has surfaced for a full-page spread inside Vogue‘s December 2014 issue. The newest addition to the Estée Lauder roster posed up a storm for Patrick Demarchelier, with Tabitha Simmons on styling duties in a classic and timeless set of portraits. Photographed in true Demarchelier style against a gray studio backdrop, Kendall worked the legendary Frenchman’s lens showcasing pieces from Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Balmain. This isn’t the 19-year-old’s first shoot for Vogue magazine, having previously been shot for a story inside the June/July 2014 issue of Vogue Paris, also by Demarchelier. Not to mention appearances inside W‘s March issue and on the cover of LOVE this season. Fashion’s love affair with Kendall is only just beginning!

Kendall Jenner Vogue Editorial December 2014

IMAGE: VOGUE.COM VIA TFS FORUMS

Members of our forums were quick to deliberate the newly released photos. “I know everyone is all up-in-arms about the feature with Kendall, but it’s just gone live on the magazine’s website, and I have to say, Patrick Demarchelier made her look infinitely better than Amy [Adams]. I wouldn’t have minded seeing her on the cover if I’m all too honest,” wrote ohmycolin.

“She looks gorgeous and that is something undeniable, BUT she hasn’t done something yet that makes her cover material. There are far more deserving stars than Kendall. Maybe someday but not anytime soon. Meryl only got her first cover in 2010/2011 (?) and she’s Meryl Streep already. Amy, after many fantastic films, only got hers now… so maybe Kendall can wait for a longer while. And she, at the moment, is nowhere near the market of Vogue,” replied an uncertain MON.

Quick to add her own two cents was kokobombon: “I agree Kendall looks great, not sure if it’s US Vogue cover worthy but some closeups could make excellent covers for other publications imo. This might be one of the very few times that I like her as a model, at least she´s doing something with her face.”

Marc10 clearly wasn’t a fan of the appearance and posted, “What a waste of 10+ pages.”

“I am actually a little shocked, I thought she was a semi-respectable model, but here she looks like a high school kid posing for senior portraits,” added HeatherAnne.

Isabelle Cornish Spruces up a T-shirt Dress for Pretty Shady’s Launch Event

Isabelle Cornish

Photo: Zak Kaczmarek/WireImage

Isabelle Cornish’s adorable ways have been known to make even the most basic of clothes look good, and she’s gone and done it again for the Pretty Shady launch today at Sydney’s Centennial Park.

The Puberty Blues star stepped out in a white T-shirt dress for the organisation, with the quirky detailing, including a sheer panel and cutesy scissor motifs, taking a different spin on your usual shirt dress.

The dress’ alternative features were right up the 20-year-old’s alley, and she spruced it up with tan two-strap heels, fine-gold jewellery, polished, wavy locks and fresh makeup. Isabelle could’ve easily rocked the piece with a topknot and Connies as well for a more casual, street take. We love this starlet’s ability to bring a youthful energy to everything she wears.

Race Wear Gets a Fresh Update at Sydney’s Polo in the City

Sydney’s Polo in the City hit Centennial Park on Saturday, November 15, and, after a flurry of spring racing events, fashionistas in the Land Rover marquee updated their race wear attire with a twist of Hamptons or a sports-luxe feel. Check out our favourite looks below.

Land Rover’s ambassador, Jennifer Hawkins, opted for colourblocking in a black-and-blue pencil midi dress. The model accessorised with black thick-strap heels and a wide-brim hat, plus on-trend mirrored shades.

Bianca Chia

Bianca Chia also colourblocked in a matching pink-and-white ensemble by Yeojin Bae. Her black accessories, including simple two-strap heels and a rectangle clutch, kept her from looking too girlie and super sweet in the gelato-inspired tones.

Maree Andrews

Fashion publicist Maree Andrews broke up her clean white-on-white Josh Goot getup with minimal grey detailing. We love the effortless vibe, including the cuffing of the pants and casual draping of the trench over her shoulders.

Deborah Symond

The founder of Mode Sportif, Deborah Symond, showed less is more in a black wide-leg jumpsuit, teamed with a cross-body bag and triple-strap heels. Her slicked-back bob and subtle bronzed makeup polished off the look.

Members of our forums share mixed feelings toward i-D‘s latest cover. “Yeah it really is fresh. Mica looks great. The hair, makeup and styling complement each other. Willy is fantastic,” raved anlabe32, who got the thread off on a positive note.

“Their best cover in awhile, love that [she's] wearing that Dior dress, hair and makeup perfect as well,” added a satisfied HeatherAnne.

“Mica looks really great here and the styling fits her perfectly!” wrote justaguy.

Also on board with the cover was TeeVanity: “It really is gorgeous.”

But the rest of us aren’t feeling it. “The hair looks like a rat’s nest,” stated littlekiki.

“Guess I’m in the minority here, but I hate the makeup and overall styling of the cover – same for the Dior dress. Many things come to mind looking at it, but ‘fresh’ isn’t one of them,” disapproved mistress_f.

Forum Members Weigh in on Cara Delevingne’s Latest Beauty Ad for YSL (Forum Buzz)

Cara Delevingne is no stranger to fronting beauty campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent. The British model was first tapped by the iconic French brand back in 2013 and the relationship is still going strong. This time around, we see the 22-year-old beauty looking as though she’s just stepped in from a night on the town, but still sporting a face full of flawless makeup (obviously, after using YSL’s innovative products). Cara’s new campaign image for YSL’s Spring 2015 collection surfaced on our forums earlier and forum members are deliberating over the brand’s efforts this season.

“That highlight on her forehead is the only thing I notice, then I slowly bring my eyes down to the horrible makeup,” shared an underwhelmed TREVOFASHIONISTO. This doesn’t look like it’s going to go down well.

Nymphaea agreed and commented, “A bit too much makeup on her face.”

Also not showing much enthusiasm toward the campaign was ParisFashionMuse, who thinks the advert is “a boring image.”

“This reminds me of the Friends episode where Ross has to do Rachel’s makeup. Who approved this? Yikes,” disapproved a horrified mistress_f.

GivenchyHomme had a strong opinion and wasn’t afraid to share it with us: “She looks like a child playing dress up. Whoever did this makeup should be fired.” Ouch!

Ellen Page Lands Special Out100 Cover

Out100 Ellen Page article

When Ellen Page played quick-witted teen Juno MacGuff in the 2007 hit film Juno, her character surprised her friends and family when she announced her pregnancy. In February, when the actress gave a speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s Time to THRIVE Conference, she surprised the audience by coming out. Her courage is being feted this month with an Out100 cover and the title of Entertainer of the Year. The pint-sized Canadian star is featured on one of four covers shot for Out magazine’s special 20th anniversary issue; the other three are fronted by Orange Is the New Black‘s Samira Wiley, actor Zachary Quinto and British musician Sam Smith.

In the interview, Ellen discusses the pressures she felt from Hollywood to keep her sexuality hidden. “No one’s ever been so direct as to say, ‘You’re gay, so we’re gonna hide it,’” she says. “But there’s an unspoken thing going on. [People] believe it’s the right thing to do for your career. They don’t realize it’s eroding your soul.”

According to the 27-year-old actress’ Twitter page, she just wrapped filming on Freeheld, a feature-length movie of the acclaimed short that details the struggles of a real-life lesbian couple in New Jersey, who were denied spousal pension benefits when one of them was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Ellen co-produced as well as co-starred opposite Julianne Moore. “It’s very direct in showing how discrimination against the LGBT community affects people,” she says of the film.

We Are Absolutely Loving Kylie and Dannii Minogue on Harper’s Bazaar Australia (Forum Buzz)

We’ve been keeping a close eye on Harper’s Bazaar Australia, admiring each and every cover it has produced of late, and the December cover certainly doesn’t fail to impress. Kylie and Dannii Minogue were tapped by the magazine to pose together for the front cover along with some photos to accompany the fabulous issue. Simon Lekias shot the Aussie beauties surrounded by a mass of blooming flowers, while wearing custom creations by Australian brand Aje.

Our forum members sure are impressed! “Quite charming! The shot is perfect for December. Of course if Dannii could face us it would be even better. It’s very rare to see the Minogue sisters together for a fashion shoot,” raved Benn98.

“Great choice. It’s very special,” added gazebo.

Also loving Bazaar‘s cover subjects this month was GIVENCHYlover, who simply posted the word “spectacular” inside the thread.

“Lovely cover and editorial. I specially like that they went overboard with the flowers,” voiced kokobombon, admiring the background.

“Really lovely cover,” noted GlamorousBoy, who echoed the positive attitude of the thread.

Get to Know Vetements, Best Emerging Designer Nominee for the tFS Style Awards 2014

Campaign_AW14-533x800

Vetements, meaning clothing in French, is a fitting name for this new Parisian brand focused on delivering closet staples minus excess frills. While the brand name may be a bit generic, the brand concept is anything but. Designed by a collective of seven designers who are, more or less, anonymous, the designers usually answer interview questions as a unit, hoping to steer attention away from themselves and exclusively onto the clothes. A cynic may call this a PR stunt and whether or not that’s true, it has no doubt contributed to the new brand gaining major traction. Not since Maison Martin Margiela has a brand been thrust into the spotlight shrouded under such intense mystery. Unsurprisingly, each of the designers, all of whom were formerly trained at top design universities across Europe, spent time working at Margiela.

Vetements’ Aesthetic

The brand made its debut for Fall 2014 and premiered on the runway for the Spring 2015 season. The collections are clean-lined and consist mostly of monochrome designs. Plays on proportion are key (think oversized leather jackets paired with tailored pants or extra long sleeves) as are slits (they were often paired with thigh-high boots for Spring 2015), serving to add visual interest given the lack of surface embellishments. While the brand’s ethos is focused on wearable closet staples, the Margiela-esque touches like one-armed tops, dresses with varying front and back floral prints and wildly oversized suiting make the brand’s collections more fashion-forward than the designers give them credit for (for better or worse in terms of commercial appeal).

In Their Own Words

  • The collective has real women in mind when designing. “We decided to think, firstly, of all of the women we wanted to dress, what their preferences are, what length for a skirt, what kind of tailoring shapes, what colours, what essential garments. We thought of our friends, of real people we know and what they would want to wear.”

  • Don’t try to look for a running theme or inspiration. One of the designers, Ines Veiga Pena, revealed that the “idea was not to work on seasonal themes in the collection as it can easily block or cannibalize great ideas that simply do not fit in a classic seasonal theme. We approach every piece separately and decide what do we like most about this certain piece, how to make it better without considering the totality of the collection. In this way we achieve a product that stands on itself as well as within the whole collection.”

  • It’s a sobering reality that even if you want to fight the traditional fashion landscape, as a commercial brand hoping to make profit, you can only do so much, something Vetements has already discovered. “What we try to do is satisfy certain aesthetic, which is independent of trends and tendencies. We deliberately wanted to be a niche brand as globalized fashion threatens individuality of brands. However we are to function within this market so the challenge is to keep our own pace in this ever-changing and oversupplied environment.”

Ariana Grande Stars on InStyle’s December Cover Wearing Prabal Gurung (Forum Buzz)

It appears as though InStyle‘s newly overhauled masthead is here to stay, after first being introduced on its November cover with Taylor Swift. Ariana Grande stars on the magazine’s December cover and stays true to herself by sporting her signature hairstyle and giving us a good left side face profile. Giampaolo Sgura (who has become an InStyle regular) photographed the “Break Free” singer wearing a show-stopping Prabal Gurung gown.

Members of our forums are still not on board with the masthead. “Their new logo is really terrible… InStyle covers lost ‘soul,’” proclaimed GlamorousBoy.

“Yeah it’s odd, every time I get my new issue I think it’s one of those special makeover issues with the very basic masthead and white background,” replied SallyAlbright in agreement.

HandbagQueen wasn’t impressed with the cover as a whole and posted, “Ick. Any ‘actress’ or ‘musician’ could have done this exact photo. Wonder why they chose her?”

Also complaining was Benn98: “So this month UK & US have the same poses, because again I fail to see the dress. Don’t care for this girl and her one-trick-pony look, actually I’m glad she’s so underused. At least it looks appropriate for December.”

Does the fact that Ariana is a “rumored” diva cloud our judgment of the cover? Ariana discusses the gossip inside the issue, which is available on newsstands November 14.

Nicolas Ghesquière Would Love to Start His Own Brand

Image: WENN

Image: WENN

Nicolas Ghesquière is currently killing it in his role at Louis Vuitton. The collections he’s put out since signing on with the brand have been pretty well-received, but like many designers, Ghesquière dreams of one day sitting at the head of his own label. The Wall Street Journal published a profile on the creative director today, in which he expresses that he’s been mulling over the thought of starting up a Ghesquière-branded line.

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to do it,” he admitted. But don’t think he’s rushing off to sign contracts and hire staff. The designer is just getting settled at Vuitton and is taking things slow. “I would like to do it, but each thing in its time. Today I dedicate myself to Louis Vuitton without forgetting that I have wishes, desires.”

Of course, Ghesquière has a few conditions if he were ever to start a label. “If it’s to reproduce on a smaller scale what is done on a large scale, honestly, no, it’s not interesting,” he said. “And that’s not at all the way that I one day envisage launching myself, especially having experienced the biggest existing model.”

Whether Ghesquière will follow through on his dreams (we have a feeling he may) or not, we don’t doubt that a namesake brand from the designer would be worth the wait.

Flashback: Vogue Paris December 2005/January 2006 with Kate Moss by Craig McDean

As U.K. Vogue takes a look at everything Kate Moss for its December 2014 issue, we thought we would dig out our copies of Kate’s memorable guest-edited issue of Vogue Paris for this week’s Fashion Flashback series.

Back in 2005, Carine Roitfeld tapped the British supermodel to take over the magazine’s December 2005/January 2006 issue. As a result of Kate’s health at the time of publication, only one shoot had taken place before Kate entered rehab in Phoenix, Arizona. As a result, we only get the one story with the then-troubled model — thankfully, it’s a good one that will fulfill us for years to come. To celebrate, Vogue created not one, but four iconic and highly collectable covers from Craig McDean’s shoot.

Flashback Vogue Paris Dec 05 / Jan 06 Kate Moss Craig McDean

IMAGE: VOGUE.FR

To accompany the four cover images, the same concept runs inside the 308-page issue with a story entitled “Ultimate Kate.” McDean captured the true essence of the “scandaleuse beauté,” which resulted in some amazing shots of the then 31-year-old wearing pieces from Dior Homme, Chanel Haute Couture, Givenchy and Christian Dior Haute Couture. Left with only a single, original editorial to accompany Kate’s guest-edited issue, Roitfeld filled the rest of the magazine with retrospectives and features.

We luckily managed to snag a copy with Kate wearing the Chanel cape on the cover a few years ago online. Which one do you have? See all four covers and take a trip down memory lane inside the thread here.

Vogue China’s December Covers Are a ‘Gorgeous Way’ to End the Year (Forum Buzz)

The December issues are starting to come in thick and fast. Xiao Wen Ju (whose cover is pictured below) and Fei Fei Sun star on not one, but two fantastic covers for Vogue China’s December issue with both Chinese models posing for Tim Walker’s lens. Each cover comes complete with a stark white background, as the girls sport porcelain skin with minimal makeup and each wears an intriguing ensemble for maximum effect.

Our forum members are currently debating which one is their favorite. “Very good looking covers, the red pops of course,” commented Nymphaea.

“Xiao Wen’s cover really stands out because it’s red and the dress but Fei Fei’s expression is spot-on and absolutely draws me into her eyes,” shared TaylorBinque.

Cosmic Voices suggested, “Put Fei Fei in the red dress and you’d have a spectacular stand alone cover.” Then he went on to write, “That being said both are very strong, the first will be incredibly eye-catching on the stands.”

Miss Dalloway proclaimed, “It’s all about Xiao, who perfectly pulls it off. Fei Fei’s shot doesn’t look very cover worthy.”

“These are absolutely amazing, especially Xiao Wen’s,” responded Luxx, agreeing that Xiao’s version is the strongest.

Also feeling the same way was Melancholybaby: “Xiao Wen Ju’s cover is perfect. So eye-catching and season-appropriate.”

“I want Fei Fei’s cover right now! GORGEOUS way to end a great year for Vogue China! Congrats!” raved a more than satisfied miguelalmeida.

Margot Robbie Baffles in Bright Yellow at Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards

Margot Robbie has stepped out in an insanely bright-yellow maxi dress for the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards in London last night, and we’re not quite sure how to feel about it.

Margot Robbie

Photo: Joe/WENN.com

Just last week we were frothing over the Australian actress’ red carpet return in Marc Jacobs, which was closely followed by her impressive white-on-white Dion Lee getup, but this overload of yellow has our head in a bit of a spin.

If you’ve seen The Wolf of Wall Street you’ll know full well that Margot’s got the bod to pull off this piece’s plunging neckline, but the stiff, crinkly fabric combined with the in-your-face yellow and exposed zip makes the dress look a little shoddy.

It may have worked with a shorter hemline to lessen the load, or a flowing material to bring some elegance to the look.

Melissa George Flashes Nipples, Jessica Hart Covers up in DVF at 11th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

Australian beauties Jessica Hart and Melissa George stepped out to impress the fashion pack in two very different getups last night, for the 11th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards at New York’s Sun Studios. While Jessica was covering up her Victoria’s Secret body in a modest Diane Von Furstenberg ensemble, Melissa drew eyes to her bust area by donning a nipple-baring number.

If you’re trying to figure out whether or not you should show some skin or leave all to the imagination for your next big event, let these two Aussie celebs help you decide.

Melissa George

Photo: Alberto Reyes/WENN

Don’t let the beehive hairdo and diamond jewels fool you; Melissa was no angel in this getup. As if the plunging neckline and high thigh split wasn’t enough to draw the attention away from other big names, like Alexa Chung and Joan Smalls, who were also in attendance, the 38-year-old felt baring her nipples could also be a good head-turning idea.

Jessica Hart

Photo: Alberto Reyes/WENN

Meanwhile, over by another plant wall, Jessica turned to Diane Von Furstenberg’s wrap-dress-over-pants look yet again. This time she opted for metallics in a more evening-appropriate look, and added even more sparkle with a rainbow-speckled bag decorated with a peace sign. In true Jess style, she donned natural hair and makeup to keep this look from becoming OTT.

Both looks were show-stoppers, nipples or otherwise, but the question remains: to cover up or bare all? The choice is yours.

Adriana Lima for Versace x Riachuelo Ad Campaign (Forum Buzz)

She’s currently on the cover of this month’s issue of Vogue Paris and now Adriana Lima is the face of Versace’s collaboration with Riachuelo. Adriana was photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for the campaign, which has caught the attention of our forum members. Forum members are ecstatic with the results. “Adriana looks gorgeous as expected! Not sure how I feel about how they faded her out while amping up the colors in the background though. She herself definitely looks good…makes me wonder why she never had a Versace campaign in the early 2000s,” commented orchidee.

“Lovely campaign. Seems like Adriana is having a moment,” shared fashionlover2001.

Nepenthes was also feeling the pairing of Adriana and Versace: “Adriana is so, so perfect for Versace that it’s really strange that this is her first campaign for the brand. She looks gorgeous of course and I hope we see her in campaigns for the main line soon!”

Also sharing the same sentiments was Benn98, who echoed, “Oh wow, this is perfect. She’s perfect for Versace. That brash confidence with the killer curves and flashy clothes all works well.”

Forum member lightblue simply said, “This is pure perfection.”

“Adriana is Versace in the flesh!” complimented an enthusiastic khyrk.

Everyone at Myer’s Melbourne Cup Marquee is Nailing It

Even though the race that stops the nation doesn’t start until 3pm, everyone’s already getting into the spirit, the fashion, and presumably the champagne, over at the Myer marquee for today’s Melbourne Cup.

Myer looks like it’s continuing to “find wonderful” without its ambassador Jennifer Hawkins, making way for Rachael Finch, Kate Peck, and Lauren Phillips to shine. Kate opted for a green chest-baring Yeojin Bae flippy dress, with black two-strap heels and a centred headpiece, breaking up the coral-coloured overflow that both Rachael and Lauren brought to the Marquee.

Meanwhile Maddy King was busy being amazing in neutral tones, alongside her stud muffin of a partner, Kris Smith. Maddy donned a Mira Mandic cream dress with a beautifully embroidered bodice and split-front skirt. We love her triple-strap pointed-toe heels and cute cat-eared fascinator, showing us you don’t need to dress like a rainbow to stand out for Melbourne Cup.

DJ Leah Simmons looked angelic in a loose-fitting Ellery piece complete with Amber Sceats jewels.

Bridget Hall rocked a soft-pink high-neck mini dress with cutesy frills, while sister, Tiffany, opted for a dark drape-detail dress with a statement wide-brimmed feathery fascinator.
